Interesting. It suggests that the efforts to stamp it out are more a reflection of extremism than moderation. Again, just too much focus on grouping Muslims into sects and too little on the essence of what we practice.
Its pitiful too because they promote sectarianism that has no theological basis. The fact that Sufism is labeled as a branch or sect by some is even a mistake - if not, why would there be both Sunni and Shi’i Sufis?

That’s a good point. But it’s easier to put people in pigeon holes because that way you’re not required to judge them based on the merit of their actions. You can just dismiss everything from them because they’ve been classified as deviants.
