A hobby of mine in high school was to attempt Arabic calligraphy with a brush and ink. Some of it turned out rather prettily, though it could have used some work. Perhaps I should go back to it. It wouldn’t kill me to. I sort of want to do something for my grandmother. She would appreciate it the most. The problem is I have found that sometimes the more intricate pieces are easier because it requires forethought, but its also easier to hide a mistake or map out. The simpler pieces, say an ayah of the Qur’an, are sometimes the hardest.
