If you thought the Chicago teacher strike was a big deal, check out this map. Pennsylvania has had over 700 teacher strikes!
We have over 600 different school districts and a comparatively different system than many states. Strikes are a common occurrence and ironically some of the districts with the best paid teachers have the smallest tax bases.
Pennsylvania has long been a state with tons of union activity.
Its a different case than Chicago and looking at the state as a whole versus comparing cities like Philly and Chicago makes little sense.
