If one gets spooked, a bunch get spooked.

If a bunch push left, most of them will push left.

Sometimes a sensible few lead the rest to water.

A calligraphic copy of the poem in honor of the Prophet Muhammad known as Qaṣīdat al-Burdah (‘The poem of the Mantle’) by Sharaf al-Dīn Muḥammad al-Būṣīrī (d.694 AH /1294 CE), with an amplification (takhmīs) by Naṣīr al-Dīn Muḥammad al-Fayyūmī. It was executed in thuluth and naskh scripts by Riḍwān ibn Muḥammad al-Tabīzī in 767 AH / 1366 CE for the library of the then Shaykh al-Islam.

To that last quote, I think that some people confuse such sentiments with feeling as if you’re a “special snowflake.” Its not that its really about the uniqueness of an individual, so much as the false notion that you can actually gauge and understand another person in full; that you can know them. Its impossible, but so often we allow ourselves to deal with others banking on that assumption, even if its only inadvertently.

Along that same vein, there are many people who also fail to recognize their limits in crossing that barrier. They recognize this reality but believe that they can defeat it in some sense when you cannot. Even the assumption that they possess a greater ability than that of most other individuals is often asinine. Its that level of arrogance that always causes me to hope that these are the last people to ever achieve that level of knowledge.
